The CFDA Lexus Hybrid Living Eco Fashion Challenge is an annual competition that challenges designers to create the best in sustainable fashion. Qualifying designers must be CFDA members and have a fashion line that is at least 25% sustainable or uses at least 25% sustainable materials. CFDA judges will select finalists based on design credibility, business acumen, and eco commitment. The winners will receive $25,000 as well as support from Lexus for one year.
The 2011 CFDA Lexus Hybrid Living Eco Fashion Challenge will be announced in Summer 2011 on this website, and directly to the CFDA membership via e-mail.
Lexus is a leader in sustainable transportation and now has partnered with the CFDA to create the Eco Fashion Challenge. We celebrate this year’s winners – Costello Tagliapietra, Maria Cornejo, and Monique Péan – with the intent of raising awareness and sowing seeds of sustainability within the fashion industry. Each of the winners received an award of $25,000 from Lexus.
In future seasons, the Eco Fashion Challenge will continue to nurture sustainable fashion designers, helping them to flourish and grow for the benefit of generations to come.

The 2010 CFDA Eco Fashion Challenge People’s Choice Award allowed visitors to view online galleries for CFDA Lexus Hybrid Living Eco Fashion Challenge finalists, then vote for their favorite designer. Behnaz Sarafpour’s interest and involvement in creating organic and ecologically friendly fashion stems from the idea that fashion should be a positive force in our world, not just collections of objects with aesthetic value.
